Football on their way to Africa!
3rd Oct 2023
Last year during our WAU studies in Key Stage 2, we had a visit from Dr. McAdam who is a doctor in Chitokoloki Hospital in Zambia.
Our pupils had written letters for him to deliver to their local school, Nyamonga, near Chitokoloki. The children introduced themselves and talked about life in N. Ireland, and asked about ways in which we could help their experiences at school.
We were all very excited when we each received a letter back from Zambia. In the letters, the only thing some of the children asked for was a football to play with. ??
At their school in Nyamonga, the children had been using rolled up plastic bags and broken sticks to make a football.
We couldn’t not fulfil their wish!
We have fantastic footballers at our school; some of whom regularly train and play with Coagh United Youth. Having access to sports equipment and facilities is something we often take for granted.
So, thanks to the kindness of Wilbert Dallas and Coagh United FC, along with a donation from our school, we are able to send them 24 new footballs and pumps in the next missionary container which is leaving NI for Zambia in late October. ?
We really hope this small gesture brings a smile to the faces of the boys and girls and Nyamonga School.
